A short case study on what needs to be set up in the first three months so that a tech subsidiary in Serbia operates as part of the group, not as an isolated company.

Client

A US SaaS scale-up, first engineering hub outside the US. Goal: 40 people in 24 months, starting from Belgrade.

First 90 days — what we put in place

Month 1

  • Company incorporation, bank account opening, pension and health registration.
  • Internal salary and benefits levels defined, aligned with the market and with the group''s internal grades.

Month 2

  • First 5 hires — contracts, onboarding, payroll setup.
  • Accounting system integrated with group reporting (monthly reconciliation).

Month 3

  • Standard monthly report to the owner.
  • Legal analysis of the IP model: who owns the code created in Belgrade.
  • Communication rhythm with head office established.

Why it matters

The foreign owner did not lose focus on the product. Local operations — legal, tax, HR — worked in the background as part of a well-designed system.
